Coronet of Courage – a columbine placed on an iris on a bed of ferns with an African daisy in the center.

The columbine has many meanings from love, desire, faith, winning and foolishness.

The columbine flower symbolizes love and is associated with the ancient Greeks and Roman goddess of love Aphrodite/Venus, the goddesses of love. It is also connected with the Norse goddess of love Freya. It is said in Swedish folklore that the blossoms were made into potion and given to arouse brides on their wedding night.

In Celtic legend the columbines were a portal from the spiritual world to this world.

Austrians associate the columbine with five doves in a circle because that is what they see looking at this flower.

In the Victorian era this flower was associated with winning and gifting this flower meant you were determined to win something or someone.

They symbolism of foolishness is derived from is looks of a court jester’s hat.

The iris is named after the Greek Goddess Iris. Iris was the messenger to the gods. It was believed Iris used a rainbow bridge between heaven and earth. It was also believed her gown was made from the many colors of irises creating a trail of rainbow colors, creating the title of Iris the Rainbow Goddess. In honor of the beauty she displayed the flower was named in her honor.

The iris represents royalty, conviction, wisdom, courage and valor

Ferns symbolize sincerity towards others. It can also be a symbol of magic, fascination, confidence, shelter, discretion, reverie and a secret bond of love. Ferns are prehistoric living before the age of the dinosaurs!

The daisy represents purity, innocence, loyal love, beauty, patience and simplicity and new beginnings.

Symmetry is another manifestation of the balance of Yin and Yang, of the unimpeded flow of ch'i
